HOME PAGE

Welcome to my website of the history of SUFFOLK, England.

Within the following pages, I hope to depict the flavour of the county as seen through one of it’s inhabitants of the last 50 years and more.  Born and brought up in the rural village of Pettistree, I have spent virtually all of my life in the county.

In the last 20 years I have developed an interest in discovering the history of the county. Initially to discover my own roots, but the addiction that is Historical Research has led to a deeper study of Suffolk's rich past. My research service covers all matters relating to Suffolk: its people, parishes property and industries. For details please click on RESEARCH SERVICES

To compliment the research I have now published two books, my latest one AT THE OVERSEER'S DOOR,  covering The Story of Suffolk's Parish Workhouses. For full details please click on PUBLICATIONS

A further aspect of my business is my photography. Instigated by requests for pictures of the churches or premises of ancestors. It  has now expanded to include many aspects of the county in the 21st century. For further details please click on IMAGES. Here you will find a small selection of pictures taken from my revamped Photobox gallery which can now be accessed via the link on the page. This includes albums of Suffolk's Landscapes, Seascapes, Churches, Historical Buildings, Workhouses and Parishes. For regular visitors please notice the revamped site is www.photoboxgallery.com/historicalsuffolkimages

As I get competent with web design I hope to introduce further pages to inform and provide a trip into Suffolk's glorious (and sometimes not so colourful) past.

For those of you interested in Suffolk's past and present, two sites I recommend worthy of a visit are :

&

http://www.pettistree.suffolk.gov.uk/

I hope you enjoy the journey
