This 74 page book chronicles Ray’s first four decades. It has a 16 page album in the centre, which illustrate his childhood,.
with pictures of Pettistree in the 50s and 60s, and other aspects of rural Suffolk during at that period of time.

Ray begins with his birth in 1948 when his godmother broke the ice on the water butt to give him his first wash. He then recalls a childhood growing up in a rural village in the post war years,
surrounded by the wonders of nature, and the occasional trip to the seaside courtesy of the ‘runabout railway tickets.

He then details a decade of education at Wickham Market Area School before venturing into a career initially at Notcutt Nurseries at Woodbridge.

This gave him a solid foundation of knowledge which would form the backdrop of a lifetime career in horticulture .

He finishes this volume with a look into his family life which included spells at Wickham Market, and Halesworth.
